Where We Live
4th generation residents of Clearwater County, my
husband and I made the decision in 1996 to purchase 20 acres of land
on the outskirts of Weippe, Idaho. Weippe is located approximately
70 miles east of Lewiston on State Highway 11, in the heart of the
Lewis and Clark Trail area of Idaho. My husband, Gene, was born and
raised here. So for him, this was like "coming home". This photo
(right) was taken from our front door and overlooks the community
and surrounding mountains. We have continued to landscape and
develop the site which was a hayfield and creek frontage with a few
trees when we purchased the property.
Winter time is very beautiful if you like snow
and winter sports. Snowmobiling especially in the high country
is spectacular and Clearwater County also boosts a T-Bar lift ski
hill operation with some nice runs for all levels of skiing.
The upper country along the Lewis-Clark Trail receives anywhere to
10-15 feet of snow and access by motor vehicle other than snow
mobile is sometimes restricted until after July 4 with new snow
returning in mid-November.

Our Home
This view is taken from State Highway 11, as you would look
across the creek when entering Weippe. We have named our place
the "Rockin
Apple Ranch" and
hope to someday have all of the outbuildings and fencing completed.
This however, seems to be a never ending project.
From looking at this picture, it's hard to believe that we
usually have snow on the ground for roughly 6 months out of the
year. But the cool summers and quiet surroundings more than make
up for the inclement weather we experience from time to time. |

Our Family
Our family
consists of my most important friend and companion, my husband
of over 29 years. On July 3, 1980, we married and
instantly became a family of five that has now blossomed into 15
including the boys’ 3 spouses and 7 grandchildren. While
careers have now taken the boys in different directions, Weippe
continues to be a center meeting place several times a year.
With Gene’s retirement in 2008 after 40+ years employment with
a local wildland fire fighting agency, we can now enjoy having
visits from the grandkids more regularly. They think it’s neat
to do all the chores affiliated with raising horses and their
parents can’t believe they’ll actually volunteer to go outside
and work. Nana still has to work at her job as Safety
Manager and AP Manager for Debco Construction, but we have a
little more free time now.
